The latest instalment of our club of the week sees us turn our attention to the friendly village club of Follifoot C.C., located on the outskirts of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Plying their trade in the Aire Wharfe Senior Cricket League, Harrogate District Amateur Evening League and Nidderdale Junior League. The club boasts a massive set up featuring 3 senior sides and 6 junior sides ranging from U9s – U17s.
The club has enjoyed a number of successes throughout the years including; being runners-up in Division 1 in 2005, missing the Championship by just 5 points. They have also been runners-up in the Waddilove Cup (three times), regional champions in the National Village Knock Out, Harrogate Evening League Champions and runners-up in the Birtwhistle Cup and in 2009 we won their first Airedale & Wharfedale League Trophy when the 3rd XI won the Chappell Cup. The first XI won the Aire Wharfe Division 2 title in 2010 and 2014. They are also extremely proud to say that they have attracted players of the calibre of Derek Parry, the former West Indian Test spin bowler, Darren Pattinson (2005) who went on to play for Nottinghamshire, Victoria and England and Harry Gurney of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and, in 2014, England in T20 and one day internationals.
We will be heading to Follifoot with one of our Summer Camps for the final week of our Summer programme. Taking place on the 29th – 31st August, we can’t wait to visit this supportive club and all their talented youngsters, if you would like to come along and join there’s still time to book on!
