Club of the Week – Walton Park C.C.

In their own words: “Walton Park Cricket Club takes it’s name following the 2015 merger of 2 very historic local cricket clubs Walton CC and Wighill Park CC, the latter having been created by Lord Hawke, one of the most colourful characters in the history of Yorkshire cricket. Both clubs began playing cricket over a hundred years ago, with the merged club now playing at its Springs Lane ground in Walton.” Walton Park C.C operate in both the Wetherby and York leagues. Boasting a junior section with more than 100 juniors and teams ranging from U9’s – U18s, along with a 1st and 2nd XI.

With a newly formed girls section coached by Pro Coach and run by Simon Hills, they hope to keep attracting women and girls of all abilities to come along to the club and get involved! The multi age range girls team will compete in the North Yorkshire Girls League, with training taking place on Tuesday evenings. “Run by the girls, for the girls.”

Training for all age groups starts on Tuesday 6:30-8:00pm and they are always welcome to new members. Sessions will be run by Pro Coach.
