With our JPP Junior and Senior Squad’s winter training drawing to a close, they were in for a real treat when England and Yorkshire opening batter Lauren Winfield dropped by to share her expertise.
For the Senior Squad it was a lesson in power hitting; an important part of the modern game that makes players stand out at the highest level. Standing still and hitting from a stable base was the simple advice Lauren preached to our young cricketers.
“Power hitting isn’t all about strength; keep your weight going forward and get your hands through the shot.”
From these simple tips, all of our players were showing huge improvements. When the season rolls around, the squad will really benefit from being able to hit the ball long and hard consistently.
Over to our Junior Squad for a lesson on the sweep shot. The youngest members of the JPP programme made the most of the session, making sure to ask Lauren lot’s of questions throughout! We hope to see them use this new shot option when playing fixtures this year. From everyone at Pro Coach we’d like to say a massive thank you to Lauren for working with the two squads, learning from current professionals is an invaluable experience for everyone involved.
