All attendees are gaining valuable experience directly from currently players at the top of their game! A combination of individual messages from Liam whilst he has been in India on England duty and unable to attend training sessions, Yorkshires right arm seamer, Jack Brooks has stepped in to offer his words of wisdom!
To show their support to women and girls cricket, the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation have funded for Hannah Buck to attend this course, read below Hannah’s comments regarding the course:
“My name is Hannah Buck and I’ve played representative county cricket for Yorkshire CCC from U13, progressing through the age groups to senior level. I was fortunate enough to be offered a place on the Liam Plunkett Fast Bowling Academy funded by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation. Without a doubt it has been an invaluable learning experience, and one I am extremely grateful to have been given!
The course is all encompassing and perfectly suited to improving as a fast bowler. From strength and condition sessions in the gym to personalized coaching specifically focusing on increasing and maintaining pace. It’s certainly the case that the harder work you put into the course the more you get out of it.
The course offered me a tailored gym programme that really reflected my needs as a fast bowler. The results are evident – an increase in my strength, core stability and power. It has given me the confidence and motivation to incorporate the techniques I’ve learnt into my personal gym sessions.
In recent years there has been a significant progression in the women’s game. To compete at the highest level you must be in peak physical condition. Without a doubt the S & C sessions led by Liam Plunkett and Tom Geeson-Brown have laid a strong foundation that I’ve been able to build on over the winter. My action has improved and as a result I’ve gain an extra yard of pace which I’m looking forward to taking into the 2017 season.
Personally the elite bowling coaching I got on the course has helped my action come on leaps and bounds. I’ve been coached not only by the elite Pro Ccoach coaches but also Yorkshire first teamer Jack Brooks and England International Liam Plunkett. In a recent session we had with Jack, he could tell I was struggling with the pressure of bowling in front of a crowd of people. He drew from his experience of playing first class cricket in front of a large audience to pass on his expertise that would help me deal with a match day pressure. He made me think about a trigger, which meant I would be focusing on just one thing. Even though it was something so simple it’ll have a big impact to the way I bowl every game.
Throughout months of hard work from the coaches my action has been tweaked to become much more efficient through the crease. The video analysis on the course highlights where my strengths and weaknesses are and also demonstrates where I have improved.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Procoach coaches, Tom, Jack and Liam and I am looking for to the rest of the course – who better to be mentored by than an England International bowler. As they say; “To be the best, you have to learn from the best.”
