Another school holiday means another busy week at Pro Coach. Spring Bank gave us the first opportunity of the year to take our camps outside and luckily the weather was on our side! We also saw our JPP Junior Squad take to the field for their highly anticipated game day.
Here at Headingley we kicked off proceedings with two of our ever popular courses – our Spin Master Class and Vikings Camp. The Spin Master Class saw Mark Lawson taking our attendees through 2 days of intensive technical and tactical coaching in the art of spin bowling. There was some fantastic young talent on show, we’re finding the next generation are displaying high levels of skill from an early age. Meanwhile, the younger age group were in for 2 fun filled days on the Vikings Camp. A definite highlight of the course was the opportunity to play on the famous hallowed turf, it was great to see so many youngster making their Headingley debut! A highly competitive 2 days of cricket meant for plenty of cheers and appeals ringing out throughout Headingley.
The latter half of the week saw us turn our attention the staple in our programme, the Bowling and GM Batting Master Classes. The newly re-branded GM Batting Master Class saw our course attendees practicing their skills with specially created thin technique bats. Designed to test and improve hand-eye co-ordination, it added another level of difficulty for our young cricketers. It’s good to keep testing the youngsters at this stage of the season, as complacency can easily set in once playing games becomes the priority. For the first time this season we were finally able to head outside and take our camps around Yorkshire! Alongside the Vikings Camp at our home in Headingley, we took camps to Mirfield C.C. and Ouseburn C.C. For 2 days our little cricketers got to enjoy plenty of fun and games whilst working on their cricket skills.
Finally, our JPP Squads reassembled for an outdoor training session at Woodlands C.C. All 3 squads gathered for a brilliant session, it was great to finally take things outdoors with the lads and test their skills on grass. The Junior JPP Squad also had their game day later on in the week, taking on a Bradford League side at Rodley C.C. in two T20 matches. The sun was shining on the group as they completed two comprehensive wins over the visiting side. Head Coach Luke was thrilled to see all of the hard work put in over the programme result in two fine all-round team performances. We hope the squad continues to build on all they’ve worked on throughout the rest of the season. We now turn our attention to Summer and a packed line up of courses!
