Whilst we had a tour to South Africa and a coaching trip to USA we also had a busy week of half term courses back here in the UK. As usual, we had courses to suit all. Our ever popular Batting and Bowling Master Classes, along with Spin and Wicket Keeping Master Classes. As well as our Vikings Camp’s for the young cricketers!
Once again, our Batting and Bowling Master Classes at Headingley were a huge success. Coaches reported that big improvements had been seen by all of those in attendance, whilst still making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. Everyone was challenged against pace bowling on day 1 with the emphasis being on playing against spin on day 2. It was good to see so many familiar faces that are now reaping the rewards from consistent coaching over consecutive holiday periods. As well as welcoming some new faces that we will hopefully see again so we can carry on the good work that was covered over these two days. As coaches we must emphasise that the work done in the 2 days on the Master Classes shouldn’t be where the hard work finishes; take this information back to your club sessions to keep progressing.
Many talented spinners were on display during our Spin Master Class. This is a course where we see massive improvements as we have 8 hours of contact time over two days. This allows the coaches to work closely with every participant and give them time to hone their skills. With spinners it’s often only minor changes that need to be made in order to see big benefits, so it was good to see everyone working hard on their individual technical changes. “I really liked it when they video’d my bowling. You could see exactly what was going on and I learnt a lot.” Commented one of the attendees. One of the parents of a repeat attendee said “My son has been on a number of spin masterclasses and has always enjoyed the challenges provided by the coaches and always leaves with a smile on his face”
Our Wicket Keeping Master Class is a specifically tailored course that is designed to work on all aspects of wicket keeping. Lead coach, Matt Green was very impressed with the efforts put in by all the participants over February and was happy with the improvements he saw across the board. “Specialist wicket keeping courses are difficult to find so Pro Coach offers something unique; the opportunity to really focus on that discipline and master the skills in a fun and encouraging environment is something you can’t get elsewhere.”- commented a parent of an attendee.
Our Vikings Camp proved to be our noisiest course of the half term, with plenty of appealing that could be heard from the offices upstairs; a sign of a good course where everyone is having fun! There was a lot of game based learning on this camp, with the coaches encouraging the kids to learn through playing and not being afraid to try new things and make a few mistakes along the way.
For more of the same plus an added bonus of a stadium tour, get yourself booked onto either of our Vikings Camps over the Easter holidays. If you are looking for more technical coaching check out our Master Classes!
Away from Headingley at the fantastic facility of South Craven we ran a combined Master Class linked with the UAJCA where players were able to work on their technical game in both batting and bowling as well as incorporating elements of fielding. We have received very good feedback from those involved with this being a quote from one parent who had 2 sons there “Toby and Henry enjoyed it. Henry sorted his delivery stride out with his bowling and Toby developed his back foot game. They both said it was fun and they were able to improve areas of their game that they wanted to develop.”
