Rodley C.C. are an ambitious club on the up, playing from the Canal Bank Ground (or the RCC as its also known!) in the suburbs of Leeds. Currently running two senior sides, a Sunday academy side and an ever expanding junior section comprised of U9s, U11,s U13s & U15s. They warmly welcome any junior or senior players interested in joining a thriving, sociable club, just come along to the club and get involved!
The impressive thing about Rodley is how they’ve have turned their fortunes around in recent years, to say they are thriving is simply an understatement. 4 years ago they set up the junior section with just 1 U11 team and 8 registered juniors, flash forward to present day and teams entered at U9, U11, U13 & U15 level with 71 registered junior players! 5 of the original 8 junior players registered 4 years ago now actively participate in the senior teams, highlighting the growth and development the club has undergone. Developments like this wouldn’t be possible without the help of their passionate volunteers and from a cricketing perspective they are lucky to have the services of 10 qualified coaches. Last year the junior co-ordinator was awarded a YCB OSCA (Outstanding Services to Cricket Award) for services to cricket coaching and this year, Chairman Steve Bradbury has been shortlisted for The Cricket Community Champion for his services to cricket thanks to his 30 years of service to the club!
The partnership between Rodley and Pro Coach Yorkshire is always building and going from strength to strength. Over the winter period a number of senior players joined us on our Adults Pre Season Development Course, allowing the players to access high quality coaching whilst also keeping that team environment. Throughout the season Rodley have been generous enough to let us use their ground on a number of occasions for our Junior Professional Programme (JPP) Fixtures. The JPP squads, parents, away teams have all commented on the impressive setup at Rodley with the new pavilion, friendly atmosphere and scenic setting. We’ll next be heading to Rodley for a Summer Camp, that always proves to be popular with the local kids year on year. Taking place 21-23 August, full details and booking can be found here.
The club became world record holders last year when they joined the Guinness Book of World Records for most overs bowled in 8 hours, a whopping 734! But this year they’re looking to break a different (crazy!) record – most overs bowled in a 24 hour period. The attempt will take place during their Open Weekend, 11-13 August, which promises to be a busy weekend full of fun and games! Get down and support this fantastic club!
